Join the War against Fat
Join the war against fat, did you know that South Africa is the 3rd fattest country in the world. Cape Town being the fattest city in South Africa. These are startling statistics. Join our team and help us to fight the war against the fast food industries which are helping to contribute towards our fat unhealthy people in this country.
Taken from the Guardian online newspaper in 2010.
"Lifestyle, food, poverty and demographics are important factors. People in Cape Town are the worst affected with 72% overweight, closely followed by residents of Pretoria (68%), Johannesburg (59%) and Durban (52%).
A total of 65% of people interviewed thought healthy food was more expensive than unhealthy food. Despite this, they thought the food they bought was healthy and claimed to shop for healthy food 52% of the time.
Of those surveyed, 47% said the government should play a more active role in targeting obesity and 46% felt obesity would affect South Africa economically.
The study also showed that, with 61% of adults in these four cities being overweight, South Africa is the country with the third-most overweight citizens, with America coming first and Britain second. Australia is in fourth place."
